Life Lately #3: June

Glastonbury

It’s been a whole 2 and a half weeks since I last posted! I disappeared off to Glastonbury on a Tuesday evening, where I spent a mostly internet-free 5 and a bit days covered in mud and truly happy as a pig would be. It was hard work at times with just how muddy it was but it’s truly my happy place and I wouldn’t give up my ticket for anything. I cried at Adele at least 5 times. What am I!

The comedown/recovery period from Glastonbury always feels long but it’s felt truly dragged out. I wanted to get back to work and blogging last week, but I was fairly run down once we got back and have now picked up a cold and fairly aggressive sinusitis which has sapped me of the will to do anything productive. Having a throbbing pain in the head really doesn’t make me want to do much on my laptop!

June favourites

Favourites

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette – What a mouthful. I think this palette has been featured on nearly every prominent beauty vloggers channel. It has been seriously hyped. I really liked the look of the colours, I only really suit warm tones and this palette looked a dream. I can confirm it’s excellent and the choice really allows such a range of versatile looks. I’ll be doing a post on some looks with it soon!

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray – This shit actually works? I’ve yet to use it in a properly sweaty situation but it kept my makeup unmoved during fever sweats at Beyoncé at the weekend so a thumbs up so far.

‘Pissed Alien’ Pin – Middle fingers up, put them hands high! Love this pin by Little Arrow Studio. Appeals to my sweary sensibilities.

Now for my Glasto saviours…

COLAB Dry Shampoo – Hooray for dry shampoo that doesn’t leave your hair white and that also smells relatively inoffensive.

Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadow in ‘Goldilux’ – I bought this at IMATS last year and haven’t used it much. I normally wear little if any makeup at festivals, but thought I’d do a bit of glitter this year and be a bit more ~festival~. This stuff is beautiful, a little goes a long way and it lasts so well. I kind of want to rub this all over my skin and glow constantly.

Violet Voss Metal Pigment in ‘Big Apple’ – I think I picked this up on a whim from Cocktail Cosmetics and it’s a really interesting shade. Added a nice warm but still metallic depth to my gold glittery eye.

NYX Jumbo Pencil in ‘Sparkle Nude’ – Bought this to use as an easy base for my glittery eyes but can see this as being a nice primer for a lot of eyeshadow looks beyond this.

Listening

Instead of giving you my listening list for the month, I thought I’d let you know some of my favourite sets of Glastonbury weekend. I think of all them except Stormzy are on iPlayer, so go have a watch!

Skepta, Foals, Adele, Lady Leshurr, Stormzy, ELO, Mystery Jets, Wolf Alice, Tame Impala, Earth, Wind and Fire.

Reading

Becoming by Laura Jane Williams – The twitter/blogger recommended book de rigueur. I didn’t rate it as much as some of the reviews I’ve seen. It’s an easy read but not an overly captivating memoir in my opinion.

Gratitude

Sometimes I can be a grumpy, moany pain in the butt but people still put up with me and I’m thankful Mini boost bars My boyfriend looking after me when I don’t even have the energy to ask for help The kindness and hilarity of strangers, more important than ever now the world feels so full of hate Having Glastonbury newbies with us and getting to experience it through their eyes My Dad turned 60! He is a pain and we don’t always see eye to eye but I love him unconditionally Having intelligent, passionate friends who care about the state of affairs in the UK right now. The referendum is shit but I’m thankful I’ve like-minded friends on my side Michael Eavis, what a hero my bed, always my bed!

July Goals

– Get my shit together. I have not blazed into this month as I’ve hoped. I need to make a list of short-term tasks and goals and some longer term ones. I feel very…floaty right now.
– Bake at least 4 new things.
– Get some new clients!
– Go on a long walk one weekend. I did 52 miles over just the Fri-Sat-Sun of Glastonbury and my legs feel STRONG. I feel I should keep it up.
